RFID cards allow you to initiate a charge at the charge point by tapping the card against a card reader. You’ll need to manage an account online in connection with your RFID card, as this is not the same as a contactless card reader. In some cases, for heavy-duty use, some charge point operators may offer subscription-based services which provide greater benefits. However, depending on which EV charging network you intend to use, you may need to have a pre-registered RFID card. In many cases, you’ll need an RFID card for each different charge point network. RFID cards have provided a sustainable income stream for charge point providers that have helped them to fund the expansion of their China charging point networks.
